Honor to launch 8X and 8X Max on September 5
HIGHLIGHTS

The Honor 8X Max is a larger variant of the rumored Honor 8X and is tipped to sport a 7.12-inch screen, essentially beating Mi Max 3 to become the smartphone with the largest screen-size.

Last week, the Honor 8X was seen listed on TENAA and it showed that the smartphone will have a 7.12-inch screen size. But this week, we got some more clarity on that and a screenshot circulating on Chinese microblogging website Weibo shows that Honor will bring two smartphones on September 5: a regular-sized Honor 8X and a phablet, called Honor 8X Max. There is no mention of the screen size of the “regular-sized” variant but the rumoured Honor 8X Max is expected to sport the large display.

The screenshots shared on Weibo are of a phone with a model name named ARE-AL00. This is the same model number that was mentioned in the TENAA listing. If the screenshots are to be trusted, the Honor 8X Max will even beat the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 in terms of the screen size, which features a 6.9-inch display. Not only the size of the display, the screenshots — taken from Master Lu Chinese benchmark — show that the Honor 8X will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. It was previously speculated that a Kirin 710 chipset will power the device.

Recently, the company revealed a poster of Honor 8X that suggested some kind of cooling tech in the smartphone. The poster did not reveal the specifications and feature of the phone, but the TENAA listing and the box image leak gave an idea about the internals. The Honor 8X is expected to sport a “Waterdrop” notch design. The smartphone is speculated to come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It may run on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI skin atop. In case of optics, the rear dual-camera could come with 16MP + 2MP lenses and the front shooter is expected to have an 8MP lens. The phone will be powered by a 4,900mAh battery is expected to carry support for 18W fast charging.
