Honor announces it has sold 3 million units of Honor 10 globally
HIGHLIGHTS

Honor 10 was launched in April in China, and in May, Honor made it available globally. The smartphone has AI-assisted cameras and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

It has been almost three months since Honor launched the Honor 10 (Review) smartphone in China, and in May, the company made the phone available in India at a price of Rs 32,999 on Flipkart. The company has now announced that it has sold 3 million Honor 10 phones globally. “Three million Honor 10s, three million thanks! Huge shoutout to all our Honor fans for supporting #Honor10! This milestone couldn't have been achieved without your help. #BeautyInAI,” the Chinese conglomerate tweeted.

The Honor 10 was launched globally at an event in London with the AI-assisted dual-camera setup at the back that uses machine learning algorithms to enhance photos. It is one of the first phones to feature an under-glass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The Honor 10 sports a notch on a 5.84-inch LCD full HD+ display that has a 19:9 aspect ratio. One of the highlights of the phone is its ability to disguise the notch by blacking out some part of the screen. Under the hood, Huawei has stored the Kirin 970 chipset on the phone, which is complemented by a 6GB RAM and 128GB on-board memory. The phone runs on EMUI 8.1 atop Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

In the camera department, the Honor 10 sports a 16MP + 24MP dual-camera setup at the back. Both the lenses have f/1.8 aperture. On the front, there is a 24-megapixel shooter with AI capabilities to enhance selfies. The phone comes with a 3,400mAh battery that supports fast charging over a USB-Type C port. Last month, the smartphone received a software update (build number COL-L29 8.1.0.120) bringing camera enhancements, updates to the fingerprint scanner and a new app called Party Mode.

After the new update, when a user launches the default camera app, the phone analyses the scenery and indicates which effects it will use to enhance the photo. As far as the update to the fingerprint sensor is concerned, the Honor 10 now reads the accuracy of a recorded fingerprint and notifies the user if another scan is required for faster and easier authentication, especially in odd angles. The Party Mode app can help several Honor 10 smartphones to connect via NFC and play a song simultaneously. The company has also announced that it will roll out GPU Turbo technology for smartphones. The technology is claimed to boost a device’s performance by 60 percent, while reducing power consumption by 30 percent.
