Google Pixel 3 XL leaked in unboxing video

Google Pixel 3 XL leaked in unboxing video
HIGHLIGHTS

An unboxing video of the alleged Google Pixel 3 XL ‘Clearly White’ colour was uploaded on Reddit. The box showed all the accessories that the smartphone is expected to come with when it launches in October.

As the expected launch date of the next-generation of Google Pixel smartphones nears, the number of leaks involving the devices have started to surge. The first highly informative report came in June and since then, follow-up leaks have suggested similar features and specifications. This is the third leak about Google Pixel 3 devices in the last 10 days and it shows an unboxing video of the supposed ‘Clearly White’ colour variant of the Pixel 3 XL smartphone. It seems that the smartphone is ready to be shipped quite before its launch date as the video shows a retail phone box.

The video is posted on Reddit and shows the phone as well as the accessories that the device is expected to ship with. The video starts with a person removing a smartphone from the box. Interestingly, the back of the device is seen first, which means that someone has already taken a peep inside the box. Generally, smartphone makers pack the retail box with phones placed in display-up fashion. Coming back to video, we could see a single camera, a flash and a centrally placed fingerprint sensor on the back of the smartphone. From the back, the overall design seems to have not changed much when compared with its predecessor. The person in the video does not show the phone in the ‘switched on’ condition so it is hard to comment if the phone is real.

Further, in the video, the person shows a SIM card pin, the booklets, a charger, an adaptor, a couple of other cables and earphones. Inclusion of the USB Type-C earphones is a surprise because the Google Pixel 2 XL did not ship with any earphones. There is also a headphone jack to USB Type-C convertor, indicating that Google might let buyers use their traditional 3.5mm heaphones.

Recently, the Google Pixel 3 XL was seen listed on Geekhbench showing the hardware that it might ship with. Judging by the scores, it is presumed that Google will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB RAM and, of course, it will run on Android Pie 9.0. XDA Developers had spotted a hands-on image of the alleged ‘Clearly White’ variant of the Pixel 3 XL in the wild. According to the image, Google will retain the single primary camera unit on the device and its signature two-tone back is gone. The report claims that the back of ‘Clearly White’ Pixel 3 XL is made of glass.

The Pixel 3 XL (codenamed ‘crosshatch’) is reported to feature a 6.2-inch LG OLED display with a notch. This may be true because Google has added the support for the notch in Android P. On the front, we may see a dual-camera setup for selfies. The notch also suggest that Google may do away with the dual-speakers it introduced in the Pixel 2 XL and only house a single speaker in the chin. Just earlier this week, a report claimed that Google may launch the Pixel devices on October 4 for the third time around. Both the previous generation Pixel phones were launched on the same dates in 2016 and 2017.
