Google may be soon launching an Evernote-rival, called Google Keep. The note-taking app resembles Google Notebook services, which was culled in 2009.

Google may soon launch a note taking app to take on the likes of Evernote and other online notebook services. Speculations regarding Google’s new app were triggered after ‘Google Keep’, believed to be the company’s note-taking app, went temporarily live on Sunday at http://drive.google.com/keep/ before disappearing.

However, Android Police was quick enough to spot what Google’s new app has in store. The site hints the new app will have a lot features of Google Notebook, which was axed by the company in 2009. Google had then shifted all existing notes saved using the service into Google docs.

Trusting the screenshots posted by Android Police, Google Keep will come with support for both web and mobile browsing through notes, and creating new lists and notes. Just like Google Notebook, Google Keep is likely to feature list of notes, ability to colour code, save images and even make lists. There would also be an option to archive photos. The app has Google’s traditional search bar on the top as well.

“Keep does a terrible job of displaying images in list view. This Jelly Bean logo is only 175 x 267, but here Keep is stretching it to a massive size, it won’t even fit on my monitor. There’s a mobile web interface, which we have pictured on the right. There’s supposed to be an Android app too, but there’s no sign of that yet,” says Android Police.

It’s not the first time when Google Keep has leaked ahead of official announcement. Back in July 2012, Google had inadvertently posted a screenshot on an official Google post that carried “save to Google Keep” label.

In the meanwhile, check out below some leaked screenshots of Google Keep, courtesy Android Police:
