Call of Duty Warzone Mobile tested on budget, mid-range, and flagship phones: What a surprise!
HIGHLIGHTS

I played the Call of Duty Warzone Mobile on three different devices.

This includes the iQOO Z9, the Moto Edge 40, and the OnePlus 12.

Surprisingly, only one smartphone managed to run the Warzone Mobile on a high refresh rate.

The much-awaited Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is finally out after a lot of excitement and anticipation. I did not shy away from taking the first chance to play the game. I didn’t just play the game, I played it on three different devices to give you an in-depth review of how my experience was.

The devices I used were the iQOO Z9 (budget smartphone), the Moto Edge 40 (mid-range smartphone), and the OnePlus 12 (flagship smartphone). Furthermore, I tested the frame rate of the game on each of these devices and the overall gameplay. Here’s what it felt like.

Before moving further, I would first like to disclose one thing. While playing the game on all three smartphones, only one managed to run the Warzone Mobile on a high refresh rate. The other two ran the game under 60FPS. I know you must be thinking that the OnePlus 12 would have run the game on a high refresh rate but is it really the case? Let’s find out.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile in OnePlus 12 (₹64,999)

The Call of Duty Warzone Mobile felt the best on this smartphone. However, the OnePlus 12 failed to run at a high refresh rate. Surprisingly, the smartphone showed only 60 FPS or below. Why is that? Well, I did some research, and many reports on the internet claim that OnePlus locks the frame rate in gaming, providing longer battery backup. Now let me tell you, locking the FPS doesn’t affect gaming at all. I wouldn’t have known that if I hadn’t downloaded the frame rate counter.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile in Motorola Edge 40 (₹26,999)

The Motorola Edge 40 comes with a display that supports a 144Hz refresh rate and guess what? Yes, this smartphone can run the Call of Duty Warzone Mobile at a high refresh rate. Moreover, the gameplay was smooth and no FPS was locking.

COD Warzone Mobile in iQOO Z9 (₹19,999)

The iQOO Z9 comes with a 120Hz display but for gaming, it’s just 60Hz. The problem here is the same. iQOO also locked the FPS in the iQOO Z9. Along with that, the Warzone Mobile also lagged a little but ran perfectly fine after I restarted the game. The gameplay was overall fine but I had some trouble while starting the game, and when there was a hardcore fight in the match.

iQOO Z9

So, that’s how the Call of Duty Warzone Mobile ran on the budget iQOO Z9, mid-range Moto Edge 40, and flagship OnePlus 12. Overall, the game was worth the wait and it seems that it’s going to give BGMI and COD Mobile a hard time.
