Blackberry Passport sold out on Amazon India

Blackberry's latest offering Passport goes out of stock on e-commerce retailer Amazon India.

Ecommerce retailer Amazon India has stated that it has run out of initial stocks of the new BlackBerry Passport smartphone. The BlackBerry Passport was launched exclusively on Amazon.in on October 11 for Rs 49,990.

Amazon India stated that the smartphone has generated huge interest from outside the top eight metros. However, the company didn't disclose the number of units sold in the country. The ecommerce giant stated that it will continue to take pre-orders for the product with stock replenishments arriving early next week. "Amazon.in has received orders for the BlackBerry Passport from 115+ cities across India," Amazon stated.

The Blackberry Passport has a unique square shape. It has a 4.5-inch touchscreen with 1:1 aspect ratio and 1440 x 1440 pixels screen resolution. It has a touch enabled keyboard that combines a physical keypad with virtual keypad functions seamlessly. The smartphone has a quad-core 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 3 GB RAM. The Blackberry Passport has 32 GB internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card. It has 13 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. The smartphone runs Blackberry's 10.3 OS.

According to rumors Lenovo is in pursuit to acquire Blackberry. Reports suggest that the  electronics giant will make an offer to acquire Blackberry as early as next week. Rumors suggest that Lenovo will offer $15 per share to Blackberry and the deal may go up to $18 per share. The company has already acquired Motorola Mobility from Google for $ 3 Billion earlier this year.
