Apple offers free replacement and repairs for iPhone X display issue, 13-inch MacBook Pro data loss problem
On its official website, Apple has acknowledged that “some iPhone X displays may experience touch issues” and that the company will replace the display module on eligible devices free of charge. Apple will also repair SSDs of non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pros to avoid data loss.
Apple has acknowledged that some iPhone X displays may experience touch issues due to a component that might fail on the display module. If a device is affected with this problem, then the display, or part of the display, does not respond or responds intermittently to touch, and/or the display reacts even though it was not touched. Users of the affected iPhone X devices can go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider to get the display module replaced free of charge.
This is not the first time that Apple has acknowledged a problem with its iPhones and offered free of cost repairs. This time the Cupertino-based company has accepted that users of the iPhone X may be facing some display issues. Apple is offering a fix for eligible devices for free. Those who are experiencing issue with their iPhone X displays are in for a treat because this could save them at least $279, according to the new list of repair prices for Apple products. Also, those who have already paid to get the display fixed can claim a refund.
“If a user’s iPhone X has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair,” Apple said.
Alongside display repairs for iPhone X, Apple is also offering SSD repairs for the 13-inch MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar with 128GB or 256GB storage. Apple says laptops sold between June 2017 and June 2018 could be affected by an SSD problem causing data loss or faliure. Users of 13-inch non Touch Bar MacBook Pro laptops can head here to check if their laptops are eligible for free repairs.
Previously, Apple had offered discounted battery replacements for older iPhones after it received criticism for deliberately slowing them down. Apple had promised that it will offer cheaper battery replacements for all users with an iPhone 6 or later. Eligible iPhones include the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. The discounted battery replacement programme is valid till the end of 2018.
