This is a major change to the traditional home button by using haptic feedback.

Analysts from Cowen & Co. believe that the iPhone 7 will feature a home button that works with Force Touch, and will apparently replace the traditional physical button that has been on the iPhone since its inception.

With Force Touch, the home button will be sitting flush inside the phone. In addition to offering a cleaner design, there will be one less physical part on the device. One problem that can arise when this change is made is that the iPhone currently uses the physical button to reset the device, so when Apple gets rid of the physical button, the system would probably need to be changed to something else, possibly involving the volume buttons.

There has been a lot of information about the upcoming iPhones over the past few months. It was reported that the iPhone 7 Plus would sport a new dual-camera system, along with a Smart Connector already seen on the iPad Pro. The iPhone 7 Plus is also touted to house 3GB of RAM. Apple also reportedly ordered 78mn iPhone units from its suppliers, the highest production target in the past two years. As if the hype wasn’t high enough from all this, Tim Cook himself stated that the iPhone 7 will have features “you didn’t know you need”.
