The second-gen foldable iPhone is reportedly set for a late 2027 release.
Apple may launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026 to rival Android foldables.
The 2027 lineup could feature both a foldable and a glass-heavy “bold” iPhone Pro.
Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch its second-generation foldable iPhone in 2027, according to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This upcoming foldable will coincide with the company’s significant milestone- the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone, which debuted in 2007. The device is said to feature some major upgrades including the bold design.
SurveyAccording to the report by MacRumors, the second-generation foldable is said to launch in the second half of 2027. For the unversed, the device will be the successor to the company’s first-gen foldable iPhone, which will debut in 2026, the report added. With this, Apple will reportedly put in efforts to capture the market share in the foldable segment, which is currently dominated by Samsung.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his report also mentioned that Apple is planning to release a bold new iPhone 17 Pro model in 2027 which will feature an advanced glass-heavy design alongside a foldable version. However, he did not mention which generation of foldable iPhone it will be.

These leaks coincide with the rumours stating that Apple will step into the foldable segment with a book-style foldable device in 2026. Now, Kuo’s latest report appears to confirm that the 2027 launch will indeed be the second generation of that model.
It must be noted that Apple has not officially confirmed the plans to introduce any foldable iPhone in the future. But the consistent leaks from reliable sources in the tech industry suggest that Apple is on to something, which can boost the saturated foldable segment globally.
If the reports hold true, we could soon start seeing the first-generation foldable iPhone appear on certification sites and in supply chain activity. Until then, stay tuned to Digit for the latest updates and in-depth coverage on all things tech.
