The Apple iPhone 8 is expected to be the most premium iPhone yet.
Apple is reportedly working on three new iPhones for 2017. Two of them will be iterative updates to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, while the third one will be a premium version. While early rumours suggested that Apple's next iPhone will feature a glass and stainless steel forged design, a new report seemingly confirms that leak.
Apple's premium iPhone is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch OLED display and have a dimension similar to that of the existing 4.7-inch iPhone. Digitimes reports that the stainless steel frame for iPhone 8 will be made by Foxconn and Jabil Circuit. The stainless steel is rumoured to take the cost upward of $1,000, making it the most premium and expensive iPhone to date.
On the other hand, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7s and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus will retain the aluminium alloy chassis. The report mentions that the aluminium unibody structure will be manufactured by Catcher Technology. A KGI report said that iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will use material like the existing iPhones, with similar design to the iPhone 7 series.
Considering the recent rumours around iPhones, it seems Apple is focusing heavily on the iPhone 8. The tenth anniversary iPhone is likely to offer a new design, premium material and of course, a higher price tag.
