After numerous leaks detailing almost every possible aspect of the iPhone 7, 9to5Mac has claimed that Apple’s flagship product for this year may actually go on sale a little later than expected. According to a leaked AT&T merchandise reset hours schedule that the blog got its hands on, the network carrier has stated September 9 and September 23 as the key dates. Collating this with previous iPhone launches and information from Evan Blass, it seems like the iPhone 7 may be up for preorders from September 9, and sales will begin from September 23.
Earlier information on the iPhone 7’s launch date had stated that the device will go on sale from September 16, but now, it seems that prospective buyers will need to wait for a week more to get their hands on the device. Last year, Apple had opened preorders for the iPhone 6s on September 12, and sale began on September 25, leaving a two-week period between preorders and sale. This was different with the iPhone 6, when preorders had begun on September 12 and sales on September 19. It is hence possible that Apple has had a shift in strategy, choosing a longer two-week period for you to save up all the money you can.
This, though, is certainly subject to change as Apple is yet to officially declare the dates. Wide speculations suggest that Apple will be declaring the dates soon, with the keynote expected on September 6. The iPhone 7 is mostly expected to retain a similar design as the present iPhone 6s, except for redesigned antennae placement and a new, all-black colour variant. The device is also expected to be waterproof, and the ‘Plus’ variant of the device is expected to bring dual-camera setup to iPhones. Many sources have also cited an increase in the amount of RAM, bringing it up to 3GB.
Base storage of iPhones is also expected to be increased to 32GB, and there has been much discussion on whether the iPhone 7 will indeed drop the 3.5mm audio port and opt for a 3D Touch-enabled Home button panel instead of a physical Home button. Everything, though, remains under speculations, and analyst reports have suggested that Apple will go for a big splash in 2017 to celebrate 10 years of the flagship device.
