Apple’s biggest product launch event of the year is set to take place today, September 9. The company will introduce its next-generation iPhone lineup, alongside new smartwatches and other products. However, like every other year, this time too, the centre stage will be taken by the iPhone 17 series. For the first time in half a decade, Apple will be introducing major design upgrades for the upcoming iPhone lineup, including an all-new iPhone 17 Air with an ultrathin body. The high-end models, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, have been tipped to come with a fresh camera island.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max expected upgrades
While the iPhone 17 Air has been creating buzz, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will likely remain the most practical options. For the first time since the iPhone 12 Pro in 2020, the Pro models will be redesigned. The back of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to get a new camera island that spans the entire length of the top of the device, and the remaining two-thirds of the phone will double as the wireless charging area.
Another significant change to the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max design is likely to be a reversal to an aluminium frame after switching to titanium in 2023 with the iPhone 15 Pro. Aluminium is both lighter and dissipates heat far more effectively, resulting in better thermal management.
In terms of hardware, the processor will be upgraded to the A19 Pro on both models. Additionally, the battery life is expected to get a significant boost. As tipped by AppleTrack, Apple is likely to introduce a 16% bigger battery on the iPhone 17 Pro and 8% jump on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Video recording will get considerable enhancements, and the telephoto lens may be upgraded from a 12 megapixel sensor to a 48 megapixel sensor. Furthermore, the Pro iPhones are also expected to feature a new variable aperture system, simultaneous front-and-back video recording, and the 24MP selfie camera.
Apart from these, Mark Gurman shared that the new heat management system/vapour chamber on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could be a key change, along with the new orange and blue colour options.

Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max price (Expected)
This year, Apple is also expected to increase the base price for iPhone 17 Pro by $100. However, the base variant for iPhone 17 Pro is expected to pack 256GB storage, unlike the iPhone 16 Pro’s 128GB base model. This means there won’t be a price hike technically. The iPhone 17 Pro may come at $1,049 or Rs 1,24,990.
iPhone 17 Pro Max, on the other hand, is rumoured to debut at $1,249 or around Rs 1,50,000 in India, up from $1,199 (Rs 1,44,990).
