Apple first foldable iPhone could launch next year: Here’s what you can expect
The foldable iPhone may cost around $2,000 and debut with iOS 27 optimizations.
Apple’s entry is expected to refine the foldable experience, not revolutionize it.
The move could help Apple compete in China’s fast-growing foldable market.
Ahead of the Apple iPhone 17 series launch, company’s first foldable iPhone is again in the headlines. The company’s first foldable device is expected to hit global markets by the end of 2026, in a segment dominated by Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s upcoming device will be a book-style iPhone, similar to the Samsung Z Fold. The report also stated that Samsung Display will supply the device’s OLED screens.
SurveyUnlike Apple’s previous entries with the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, the foldable phone will enter an already mature and technologically advanced market. According to the report, the Apple foldable will not feature a new interface or groundbreaking hardware, but rather refinements such as better screen crease and an improved hinge mechanism.
According to the report, iOS 27 will improve the device’s performance. It is said to have features tailored specifically for the new display configuration.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that Samsung is being praised for the engineering and wider front display of its recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 7 device. For the uninitiated, the company launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in global markets, as well as new smartwatches with AI-powered health capabilities.
Coming back to the foldable segment, Apple’s entry may breathe new life into the saturated foldable smartphone market. The report also suggests that the company’s entry into foldables could be a strategic move in China, where demand for foldables, particularly the book-style format, is increasing. Huawei and Honour have already established considerable roots in the segment.
Speaking of the price, Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg report stated that the iPhone could be priced at around $2,000. However, these are just early leaks and rumours and we will have to wait to know more about the upcoming product portfolio.
