After Airtel and Idea, Vodafone launches ‘free’ roaming plans
Vodafone has joined Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular to announce its own special free roaming plans for prepaid and postpaid customers.
Vodafone has announced ‘free’ roaming plans for its prepaid and postpaid customers in the country. The company is offering a Special Tariff Voucher (STV) to its prepaid customers who can enjoy free incoming calls on roaming at Rs. 5 per day. For outgoing calls on roaming, users will be charged 1.5p per second. To activate the daily plan, customers need to dial *444*500#.
Additionally, Vodafone offers a monthly plan for prepaid customers (priced at Rs. 71) and postpaid customers (priced at Rs. 75).
The operator has also announced two new special roaming tariff plans – Roaming Tariff Plan (RTP) and Roaming Tariff Plan Free (RTP FR) – that offer customers reduced incoming roaming tariff and free incoming roaming benefit, respectively to both the pre-paid and post-paid customers.
The price point for the RTP-FR for prepaid customers starts from Rs. 196 (varies by state) and Rs. 149 for its postpaid customers.
“There is an increasing need of customers to remain connected while travelling and our latest national roaming plans enable our customers to do that without worrying about high roaming cost. With these new roaming plans we aim to offer a hassle-free roaming experience to our customers,” says Vivek Mathur, Chief Commercial Officer, Vodafone India.
Vodafone’s special roaming plans come in the wake of the recent TRAI diktat that allowed telecom operators to provide free and cheaper roaming through special tariff vouchers and plans. It’s notable Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular have already launched their special free roaming packs/plans.
