Adobe to kill Flash support for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Google has recently unveiled the next and latest update for their very own Android mobile operating system with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in Google I/O 2012 conference.
Along with Jelly Bean update, they also unveiled the new Nexus 7 tablet, the platform lead device for the new OS, and Google’s hope to take on the iPad and Kindle Fire.
If you were dreaming to install and run the latest updated Flash version on your Nexus 7 or any other Jelly Bean device, Adobe has disappointing news for you. Adobe recently revealed the news on their official blog, confirming that it will not support Flash on Android 4.1 devices by August 15th.
There are a lot of uncertified devices which are using Adobe Flash Player unofficially. We are calling them uncertified because those devices don’t have Flash Player provided by the manufacturer and the certification testing requirements are not completed by them, but their users are still able to download the Flash Player from the Google Play store. The certification process and requirements include extensive testing by the Adobe team to ensure everything is working as expected. That is how Adobe tries to provide a good user experience with Flash Player.
In the blog update, Adobe also said that there will be no certified implementations of Flash Player for Android 4.1 by August 15 and the access for the Flash Player update for Android 4.1 will be available only on the certified devices that already have Flash Player installed. If you haven’t yet installed Adobe Flash player on your device, you can do that before they starts limiting support and future downloads via Google Play store. Certified devices are typically the devices which include the Flash Player pre-loaded at the factory, as part of an official system update.
It is still possible to install and run the Adobe Flash player on your Nexus 7, Google Nexus, or any other Jelly Bean supported smartphone or tablet, but you should get warning messages from its maker regarding unpredictable behaviour or recommendations to uninstall it, because future updates for Flash Player will not work anymore.
