Will Galaxy S25, S24, S23 series and Z Fold 7 get S26-like AirDrop support? Here is what we know

Samsung has recently launched a feature that bridges the gap and gives the Android users a direct way to transfer images, videos, files and more directly to Apple devices. While the feature was available to the users who own Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 series, now the company is reportedly extending it to the later models. The users need to upgrade their device to the latest One UI 8.5 beta version to use the AirDrop support. However, the rollout is uneven, and some users may not see it. Even on compatible devices, the feature sometimes fails to detect nearby Apple devices. Users may need to update their firmware, Google Play system, and Google Play Services for the option to appear. Samsung seems to be activating the feature gradually rather than through a single, complete update.

List of devices

According to tipster Tarun Vats, older Samsung Galaxy models have started receiving AirDrop support. Here’s a list of Samsung devices that are receiving the AirDrop support:

  • Galaxy S25 Series: S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 Series: S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 Series: S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S22 Series: S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7

How AirDrop support works on Samsung devices

Once you’ve installed the Quick Share feature, then you will see an option to share files with Apple devices that support AirDrop. This includes iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers nearby. Users can send photos, documents, and other files without using third-party apps or complicated steps. The feature works in a similar way to AirDrop on Apple devices, creating a direct connection between the devices for faster file transfer. Samsung emphasises that the goal is to reduce friction for users who own both Galaxy and Apple products.

Current limitations

While the older Galaxy models of Samsung are receiving the Quick Share update, do note that not all the devices show the new option immediately. Some users have reported that even when it appears, Apple devices do not always show up. This suggests that Samsung might be enabling the feature in stages and likely through the server-side updates.
