Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 in India: Faster gaming, better AI and more

Qualcomm has introduced two new mobile chipsets- Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 during its third edition of its Snapdragon for India event in New Delhi. These new platforms are aimed at improving everyday smartphone experiences with faster performance, smoother gaming, enhanced imaging capabilities and longer battery life. The company also expanded its audio ecosystem in India through a new partnership with boAt for Snapdragon Sound-powered products. Here is what is new.
SurveySnapdragon 6 Gen 5
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform is specifically designed for mid-range smartphones and focuses heavily on gaming, AI camera processing and faster connectivity. Qualcomm claims the chipset delivers improved graphics performance and smoother multitasking compared to the previous generation. The platform also introduces Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI, which is aimed at reducing screen stutter and improving app responsiveness. Alongside this, Qualcomm has added support for Wi-Fi 7 and advanced 5G features.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 targets affordable smartphones with upgrades in graphics and gaming performance. Qualcomm says the platform supports up to 90FPS gameplay for the first time in the Snapdragon 4 series. It also offers Dual SIM Dual Active support with 5G connectivity, allowing users to maintain simultaneous network access. The company claims the chipset improves app launch speeds and delivers smoother overall performance for everyday tasks.
The company has also confirmed that upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi will feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, while brands including Oppo, Realme and Xiaomi are said to launch devices powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 later this year. All these devices will launch in the second half of 2026.
Apart from smartphones, Qualcomm also announced that Snapdragon Sound will officially enter the Indian market through its collaboration with boAt. The first product under this partnership will be the boAt Nirvana Eutopia 2 Pro earbuds powered by the Snapdragon S3 Gen 1 Sound platform.
