Getting a call from your bank offering discounts or rewards may sound normal. But sometimes, it can be a trick. A man in Pune found this out the hard way when he lost Rs 65,000 to a scam pretending to be about credit card reward points. On May 1, the victim was at home when he got a call from a woman. She said she was calling from his bank and told him he could use reward points to get a discount on his credit card bills.
He trusted her and accepted the offer. The woman told him that her colleague would contact him to complete the process. Soon after, a man called him and sent a link on his phone to update the reward points, reports TOI.

The victim clicked the link and entered the necessary details to receive the credit points. Within minutes, Rs 65,000 was taken from his account. When he realised the money was gone, he tried to call the woman and the man again. But both phone numbers were not reachable. That’s when he knew he had been tricked.
