International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the strength, achievements, and contributions of women. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a meaningful step to honour women by handing over his social media accounts to several inspiring women from diverse fields. Through this gesture, he highlighted his government’s ongoing commitment to empowering women across the country.

In a video shared on X, PM Modi paid tribute to “Nari Shakti” and reaffirmed his support for women’s empowerment through various government schemes and programs.

“We bow to our Nari Shakti on #WomensDay! Our Government has always worked for empowering women, reflecting in our schemes and programmes. Today, as promised, my social media properties will be taken over by women who are making a mark in diverse fields,” the Prime Minister posted on X.

One of the women chosen to manage the Prime Minister’s social media is Chess Grandmaster Vaishali, who won the Women’s Grand Swiss Tournament 2023. She is also the elder sister of chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.

“I am @chessvaishali and I am thrilled to be taking over our PM Thiru @narendramodi Ji’s social media properties and that too on #WomensDay. As many of you would know, I play chess and I feel very proud to be representing our beloved country in many tournaments,” she posted from PM Modi’s X  account.

Vaishali encouraged families to support girls in pursuing sports, acknowledging India’s progress in promoting women athletes.

Nuclear scientist Elina Mishra from Bhubaneswar and space scientist Shilpi Soni from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, also took over PM Modi’s social media for the day. “Our message- India is the most vibrant place for science and thus, we call upon more women to pursue it,” they posted.

Anita Devi, an entrepreneur from Nalanda, Bihar, also took charge of the Prime Minister’s accounts. She started her startup, Madhopur Farmers Producer Company Limited, nine years ago, empowering women through employment opportunities.

“I have not only made my own path easier but have also empowered hundreds of women by providing them with employment opportunities, making them self-reliant. Now, my company also provides farmers with essential items like fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides at affordable rates,” she wrote.
