Major Bank of Baroda data leak? Ransomware group claims to have stolen 1TB of customer data

Bank of Baroda is reportedly facing cybersecurity concerns after an X user claimed that a hacker has leaked around 1TB of the bank’s data on the dark web. However, it is important to note that these claims have not been officially verified. The bank has not confirmed any data breach at the time of writing. The claims were shared by X user Srikanth, who tagged Bank of Baroda, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and the government’s cybersecurity awareness handle Cyberdost. He urged the authorities to investigate the matter.

His post also included screenshots and a link to another X account called Dark Web Intelligence. The account claimed that a threat actor had shared sample files of the alleged leak along with download links. The attacker reportedly claims to have nearly 1TB of data linked to Bank of Baroda customers and banking operations.
The account further claimed that the leaked data includes personal and corporate banking records. It allegedly includes information related to savings and current accounts, loan records, NetBanking users, NRO and corporate banking services, customer support details, and branch records.

The post also claimed that some sample files contain customer forms with identity details, personal contact information and account-related details.
In another post, Srikanth claimed that the leaked files contain much more than KYC documents. He wrote, “More sample data. Goes beyond KYC docs. Tonnes of internal audit data available. Each of it contains account opening forms – with names, photo, UID etc.”
So far, Bank of Baroda has not issued any public statement confirming or denying the alleged incident.
