Flipkart faces backlash after iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro sale orders cancelled during Big Billion Days
iPhone 16 (128GB) was advertised at Rs 51,999 and iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) at Rs 75,999.
Buyers shared screenshots of abrupt cancellations despite successful transactions.
Complaints extended to Google Pixel 9 and Nothing Phone 3, with users alleging post-cancellation price hikes.
Flipkart Big Billion Day 2025 is now live for customers across the country. During the flagship sale, many smartphones, including the iPhone 16 series, are available at huge savings and have already sparked a lot of interest. However, the sale is now being heavily criticised by buyers following a wave of order cancellations affecting customers who had reserved iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro units at significantly reduced prices.
SurveySoon after the Flipkart Big Billion Day 2025 went live, many customers reserved the iPhone 16 (128GB) for Rs 51,999 and the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) for Rs 75,999, undercutting the newer iPhone 17 lineup and attracting thousands of eager buyers. Early access for Flipkart Plus and Black members began on September 22, followed by wider access on September 23.

How can this price drop be trusted? pic.twitter.com/Q1o2X80sKd
As a Flipkart Plus member, I placed my iPhone 16 Pro order last night. By morning, it's cancelled. This feels like false advertising & broken trust.@Flipkart @flipkartsupport if you can’t honor committed orders, why run these campaigns?#BigBillionDays #iPhone16Pro #ScamAlert pic.twitter.com/al2HweAomi

Ordered the iPhone 16 twice and the order got cancelled both times. The first orders refund came immediately while fliokart says it'll take till the 26th for the second refund. Extremely unprofessional. Never buying from them again@flipkartsupport @Flipkart pic.twitter.com/MUhchChxDe
Placed an order for iPhone 16 Pro Max during #BigBillionDays. Order confirmed then CANCELLED overnight. Refund still pending. Is Flipkart running a SALE or a SCAM? #FlipkartScam@Flipkart @flipkartsupport #FlipkartScam@amazonIN @ZeeNews @ABPNews @aajtak @timesofindia @consaff pic.twitter.com/ra0iu8LG8q

FLIPKART – THE BIG BILLION SCAM!😡

My brother placed an order for an iPhone in the Big Billion Day Sale. Order went through, payment confirmed, everything fine…and then guess what? Flipkart CANCELLED it automatically.
Billion Day – Big Billion FRAUD🤬 @Flipkart @flipkartsupport pic.twitter.com/dz4hSUx9dR
However, what had begun as a highly anticipated event quickly turned bitter. Many customers reported receiving cancellation notices within hours of placing their orders, despite having paid successfully. Many of them shared screenshots on X showing the platform citing “payment failures” even though their transactions had cleared. The incident resulted in hashtags accusing the platform of running a “Big Billion Scam.”
However, this was not limited to the Apple iPhone 16 series. According to multiple reports, buyers of other premium smartphones, including the Google Pixel 9 and Nothing Phone 3, have also seen abrupt cancellations. Some users claimed that prices for specific handsets increased following the cancellations, adding to the outrage.
For the time being, Flipkart has issued an official statement addressing the widespread cancellations and clarifying whether affected buyers will be compensated. This is not the first time customers have reported abrupt cancellations. Last year, similar reports surfaced stating the same problem.
