The government will start rolling out the new FASTag annual pass for daily highway commuters from August 15 onwards. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has already been promoting the scheme via its official website. Notably, the annual pass priced at Rs 3,000 is valid for either one year of 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first. This will cut down on the toll tax paid by users.

FASTag annual pass eligibility
The FASTag annual pass is only available for private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Commercial commuters, such as trucks or buses, are not eligible for this scheme.
Additionally, the eligible users must ensure that their FASTag is active and appropriately affixed. Also, it must be linked to a valid, non-blacklisted vehicle registration or not involved in any dispute.

Starting August 15, existing FASTag users can install the Rajmarg Yatra app, the official website of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) (www.nhai.gov.in), or www.morth.nic.in to apply for an annual FASTag pass.

No, it’s not mandatory for everyone to get a FASTag annual pass; however, it aims to cut down the toll charges paid by daily commuters. For those not willing to buy the annual pass, their existing FASTag will work as is. Users will be required to use it for regular transactions, as applicable at the toll plazas.
