FASTag Annual Pass announced: From price to number of trips, all details here

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has officially announced the annual pass system for FASTag users. With this, the government aims to streamline toll payments for private vehicles all over India’s national highway network. Taking to X, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the move stating that the new system will be operational from August 15, 2025.

With this new policy update, private vehicles including cars, jeeps, and vans will be able to buy a new FASTag-based Annual Pass. The new pass is priced at Rs 3,000 and will be valid for either 200 highway trips or one year from the date of activation, whichever limit comes first. The authorities specifically made it for non-commercial users. It is worth noting that the new pass does not apply to public vehicles and public transport.

“This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimizing disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners,” Gadkari stated in his post.

How to apply for Fastag Annual Pass:

Users will be able to activate and renew the Annual Pass through the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and MoRTH. A dedicated link for activation will be made available ahead of the rollout. We will share the step-by-step application guide and required documents once the rollout comes closer.

What will happen after the pass expires?

After the pass expires, which may occur after 200 trips or after a year, users can return to the current standard FASTag recharge method. The citizens can also renew the pass by repeating the same process of revisiting the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app.
