Apple may launch 3 Ultra devices this year: What to expect

Apple is reportedly preparing to expand its lineup of premium products with new Ultra-level devices. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company may launch at least three high-end products this year as it continues to expand into the ultra-premium segment. As Gurman explained, there’s a “more significant shift underway toward higher-end fare- what I’d describe as ‘Ultra’ products.” He also mentioned that Apple may not necessarily use the “Ultra” branding for every product.

What to expect

One of the most notable products expected is Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone. According to Gurman, the device could stand apart from the rest of the iPhone lineup due to its new technologies and high price.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a large inner display and new technologies such as in-display sensors. The device could also cost around $2,000. Gurman noted that “Ultra” may be what Apple ultimately calls this device, though it also could use a more literal name like Fold.

Another product that Apple may launch is the next-generation AirPods. The report suggests these earbuds could include computer-vision cameras that provide visual intelligence data to Siri. These upgraded AirPods are expected to be priced higher than the current AirPods Pro. Since Apple already uses the AirPods Max name for its over-ear category, AirPods Ultra could be a possible name for this new model.

Apple is also reportedly working on a MacBook Pro update. The upcoming models could feature a touch-enabled OLED display, which may increase the overall price. The new MacBook Pro models will likely sit above the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max versions instead of replacing them. “While Apple could keep the traditional MacBook Pro name, a ‘MacBook Ultra’ label would more clearly signal their position at the top of the lineup,” Gurman wrote.
