Interestingly, the analysts believe that the first device to launch with the M5 may not be a Mac at all. Instead, Apple could use the iPad Pro to launch its new silicon, as it did with the M4 earlier this year. There is also speculation that an updated Vision Pro may include the M5. Here’s everything we know so far.

MacBook Pro and Air may not ship until 2026

Usually, Apple refreshes the MacBook Pro lineup in the fall. Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg report states that the company is targeting an early 2026 launch for the M5-powered MacBook Pro models. These laptops are expected to retain their current 14-inch and 16-inch designs but will come in three chip tiers: M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max.

Soon after that, Apple is said to roll out the M5 MacBook Air in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. If the timeline mirrors this year’s M4 Air release, the ‘ultra-portable’ laptop could arrive around February or March 2026.

Other Macs may follow

The leaks, so far, centered on MacBooks and the reports suggest that the updated Mac mini and iMac models could join the lineup in late 2025 or early 2026. However, concrete details on these desktops remain under the wraps.

Do note that these updates are completely based on the early leaks and rumours. Apple is yet to confirm the details.
