PUBG competitor Apex Legends gains 50 million users in one month after launch
HIGHLIGHTS

50 million users are the numbers for total registered players and not concurrent players, which in one February weekend hit 2 million players for the title.

Highlights:

  • Apex Legends hits 50 million registered players one month after launch.
  • Season one of the game is expected to soon roll out and it should also get Battle Pass.

Apex Legends might only be available on PC and consoles but it has been raking up a good number of players since launch. The online battle royale game observed over 25 million registered players just one week after it was launched. Now, Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella has announced that the title now has over 50 million total players after just over a month since its initial release. Do note that these numbers are for total registered players and not concurrent players, which in one February weekend hit 2 million players. Season one of the title is slated to be announced this month where Battle Pass is expected to be introduced. Additionally, new Legends, weapons, loot and more elements will be added to the game as well.

Apex Legends shows promise in terms of gaining players, but it has still ways to go to catch up with the two biggest battle royale online multiplayer titles, PUBG and Fortnite. In Q4 2019, both games were reported having well over 200 million registered players. The two games do have an added advantage of being available over a longer period of time and also being present on mobile platforms like Android and iOS. Apex Legends, on the other hand, might not be announced for mobile devices since the game’s developers are said to not have any plans of launching the title for mobile platforms.

The new Havoc Energy rifle was added to Apex Legends last month. The new full-auto energy rifle is one of the most damage inflicting weapon in the game and is the only gun that can be equipped with two different hop-ups, Turbocharger and the Selectfire Receiver. Two new legends, Caustic and Mirage have also been made available for all players but they need to be unlocked by either grinding and collecting the in-game currency or by spending some real-world cash.
