As per the reports citing industry leakers, the online mode, widely expected to be called GTA 6 Online, can make its debut in December, within a few weeks of the game’s release. This timeline aligns with Rockstar’s previous approach, where GTA 5 got its online mode shortly after the launch. Not only that, Red Dead Redemption 2 introduced its multiplayer beta within a month.

Rockstar has not detailed the post-launch roadmap, but the speculation suggests that the company may focus heavily on expanding the multiplayer features soon after release. Adding on, the leaks also suggest a marketing push later this year, which can talk about the online components and their features.

According to the reports, the early hints can be taken as possible gameplay changes. The GTA 6 Online may support around 32 players in a single session, a bigger limit compared to the previous titles. Additionally, the game is said to continue Rockstar’s live-service model, which means gamers will get more flexibility for user-generated content following the company’s acquisition of modding platform FiveM.

Coming to the widely asked question- What will happen to the existing GTA Online system? The answer is that it will most likely remain active. However, the industry watcher claims that the new version will slowly take over it.

Monetisation is also said to remain a key part. Rockstar will continue to offer in-game purchases and downloadable content. But it must be noted that Rockstar has not confirmed any details so far.
