Good news for all God of War fans – the God of War III demo is out! But before you get excited, there are several caveats: the demo is going out to only a select few; unless you are among these lucky few, or know the right people, today will not be when you can play the demo.
Moreover, a post on the official PlayStation Blog has confirmed earlier rumors that the God of War Collection, due out later this year, will include a redeemable PSN voucher. The demo code will also be available with a pre-order of God of War III Ultimate Edition, with select retailers. So far it appears that both these offers are limited to North America — the European PS blog has this to say “…we will also announce the Special/Collector’s Edition and extensive pre-order plans in place for the PAL region. So watch this space, you won’t be disappointed for sure…”, which seems to imply that while PAL region won’t get the Ultimate Edition, something special might be in store for us. Will the something special include a God of War III demo voucher? We don’t know yet.
The pre-order blog post also mentioned that SCEA have sent a random burst of demo code to limited number of www.GodofWar.com members.
For us Indians though, the download vouchers don’t mean much since we don’t have an official PSN Store for our region. All hope is not lost however; there is another way you can get your hands on the demo. A post on GAF Forums will help you get access to the demo provided you are already a member on the boards.
The demo download is a little over 2.6GB and according to posts on GAF, the demo is the code showcased at E3 and later at TGS, with about 20 minutes of game-play. Screenshots follow:
