Computex 2024 is currently going on in Taiwan and some exciting news is coming our way. ASUS took the stage to announce a new variant of its popular handheld gaming console, the Asus ROG Ally X. The company promises enhanced performance and experience with this device, let’s see what it has to offer.

Asus ROG Ally X specifications

The Asus ROG Ally X packs a 7-inch FHD 120Hz display, with 500 nits brightness and Dolby Vision. It runs on the AMD Ryzen Z1 APU, with 8 Zen 4 cores, 16 threads, and a maximum clock speed of 5.1 GHz. This comprises integrated RDNA 3 iGPU with 12 compute units running at 2800 MHz. You get up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory at 7500 MT/s in dual-channel mode and supports up to 1 TB storage via a full M.2 slot (2280 form factor).

For the battery, you get an 80Wh battery. This is a straight double of last year’s 40Wh battery. You also get 100W charging support.

When we compare it with last year’s gaming console, we get to see improved thermal management. The internal zero gravity thermal solution now has smaller fans with 50% more blades. This increases the airflow by 10%. Asus is also offering a redesigned tunnel and a third vent to improve heat dissipation. This reduces panel temperatures by up to 6°C.

Coming to the build and design now, you get deeper handles and a rounded shape for better comfort. The company has even rearranged buttons and slanted triggers to enhance the experience. Lastly, the joysticks are upgraded too and the D-Pad now allows for precise eight-direction input.

Speaking of connectivity, the ROG Ally X carries two USB-C ports.
