WhatsApp may soon allow iPhone users to add social media profile links to their accounts
HIGHLIGHTS

WhatsApp beta for iOS introduces an option to manually add social media profile links.

Regular users may not require authentication to link their profiles, unlike business accounts.

The feature is optional, with privacy controls allowing users to manage visibility and removal.

After introducing a slew of new features, WhatsApp is now reportedly working on a new feature that will allow them to add social media profile links to their accounts, making it easier for contacts to find them on other platforms. The feature is currently under development and was available in the WhatsApp beta for iOS 25.3.10.72, available through the TestFlight app.

According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce a new section in the profile settings wherein the users will be able to add the social media account links manually. This feature was previously available for business accounts, requiring authentication to verify ownership before linking social media profiles. However, the regular users may not need to go through the verification process.

While it seems to be an easy process, it can raise serious concerns over impersonation and misinformation. There is a possibility that the Meta-owned platform could introduce some authentication measures before rolling out the stable update.

The report also added that the feature will be optional and the users will be able to decide if they want to display their social media links or not. They will also be able to manage the visibility of their shared profiles as well as remove them at any time via privacy controls.

In the beta update, only Instagram is only the supported platform. The report stated that it may soon expand the integration and include other popular social media platforms with the upcoming updates.

It is worth noting that the feature is currently under works and may see more add-ons before the final rollout in the coming weeks. WhatsApp has not acknowledged the feature and shared any official timeline. Stay tuned with Digit to know more about the upcoming WhatsApp features.
