Vine for Android updated with front camera support, new upload manager

Android 4.0 (or higher users) get front camera support, new upload manager in Vine 1.2.0 update.

The new Vine 1.2.0 update includes a front-facing camera, increased speed, better settings, a new upload manager for un-submitted posts as well as some big fixes and enhancements.

Android users can now record 6 second selfies on Vine according to a recent tweet.

The company also stated that it has added some enhancements that will make Vine run faster.

The full Vine 1.2.0 for Android has the following updates:

• Front-facing camera

• New upload manager for un submitted posts

• Improvements to settingsf

• Improvements to camera loading time and support for more devices

• Speed improvements overall

• Bug fixes and UI improvements

The app is trying to catch up to its iOS equivalent that was released in January and received front-facing camera support in April 2013. Since its launch in January this year Vine has already amassed 13 million users on iOS. Vine for Android was launched by Twitter earlier this month and has given rapid updates since then. This new update comes after the addition of hashtags and Facebook sharing features a few weeks back. However Vine is available only for Android users who have 4.0 ICS OS or higher. The new version is available for download from Google Play.

Vine is a video app by Twitter that allows you to capture and share short videos (6 seconds or less). Twitter is battling with Facebook which has also recently added video support to Instagram for Android and iOS users. However Instagram’s user base is already 10-times greater than Vine’s.
