WhatsApp is testing interactive quizzes for Channels, letting admins share knowledge-based questions instead of opinion polls.

Quiz creators can mark a correct answer, add images to options, and users get instant feedback with a confetti animation for right answers.

The feature is in beta on Android and iOS and could be useful for news, education, and creator-led Channels.

WhatsApp has launched several new features this year, whether it be to make the app more secure or more fun to use. As the year is about to end, the messaging app is preparing to add yet another feature focused on improving interaction within the Channels section. Currently in the beta phase, the feature is expected to be available on both Android and iOS. It will allow channel admins to connect more effectively with their audience by enabling them to share interactive content. While Channels already includes a polls feature, this upcoming quiz feature is designed to be more engaging and knowledge-based, setting it apart from existing options.

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp may soon release a new feature for WhatsApp Channels. As per the report, the feature is currently in the beta stage and is available to beta testers on Android and iOS devices. The rumoured new feature will allow channel admins to create quizzes that followers can take directly within the channel. Much like the polls feature, admins will be able to add a question and provide multiple answer options. Furthermore, they will also have the option to include images with each answer, which can be useful for visual questions, learning-based content, or fun challenges.

However, what makes this feature distinct from the existing polls feature is that the admins would be required to select a correct answer before sharing the quiz in the channel. This would ultimately change the purpose of the interaction, as instead of asking the group members for opinions, quizzes will focus on testing their knowledge. Once the user selects an answer, they’ll be instantly displayed whether they answered correctly or not. If the option they selected is correct, then the app will show a small confetti animation, making the experience more enjoyable for users.

The admins will also have access to the data of the participants. As they’ll be able to see how many users selected a particular option the quiz shared. However, as WhatsApp is a privacy-focused messaging service, the company only shares a limited amount of details with the admins if the participant is not saved in the admin’s contact list. While the exact details are not yet out, it is rumoured that in some cases only the profile photo may be shared, while names and phone numbers remain hidden based on privacy settings.

The feature first appeared in the Android beta and was later introduced in the iOS beta through TestFlight, suggesting that it may arrive on both operating systems together. Once released, the feature could be useful for news channels, educational pages, and creators who want to share facts or short lessons in a simple format.
