MapmyIndia launches Explore app for Windows Phone 8

MapmyIndia has launched a new Explore App for Windows Phone 8.

MapmyIndia, maps and location based service, has launched Explore app for Windows Phone 8 platform. The app shows information about points of interest around your location. The app is available for download free from the Windows App store and will be launched for Android soon.

The Explore app provides information about places of interest based on the users location like ATM’s, restaurants, petrol pumps among others. The app features listings in a city-guide format across three categories including hotels, places to see and places to stay, eat and drink, and provides detailed information and pictures. The app also highlights popular places.

The MapmyIndia Explore app has a social interface that allows users to pin favorite hangouts or rate and review popular places around them. Users can also follow other “Explorers” and see an activity feed about what others are doing. The app comes with Facebook integration and allows users to log in with their Facebook accounts. The app also automatically updates Photos, reviews and subscription on the users Facebook timeline.

Rakesh Verma, Managing Director, MapmyIndia stated at the launch of the app: “The Explore app further reinforces our commitment to bring to the users apps that are helpful as well as fun to have. It is a culmination of an exciting partnership between MapmyIndia and Microsoft. This social-navigation app is the third in the series of apps we have launched for the Windows 8 platform. The Locate app and Real-time traffic on MapmyIndia maps have generated an overwhelming user response on both Windows and Android platforms. We will soon make ‘Explore’ available to Android users.”

MapmyIndia recently launched real time traffic updates for Windows, Windows 8 and Android users. The company has tied up with various government agencies to get access to real time events/incidents based data, directly via the application. Users will receive real time traffic updates and plan their routes accordingly.
