Mailbox clocks 1 million reservations; app gets update
HIGHLIGHTS

The email client reaches this landmark as it gets ready to shift into the new office, with parent company, Dropbox.

It was six weeks ago when the Mailbox app hit the App Store, and if general opinion is to be considered, it is possibly one of the best third party Gmail apps around. The “reservation only” method of signing up does mean there is a considerable amount of waiting period for some users. However, that has not stopped 1 million reservation filings, as the company revealed this landmark number. This comes at a time when the Mailbox team is moving to its new office with Dropbox.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we filled our 1 millionth reservation today, only 6 weeks to the day after launching Mailbox. We’re pretty proud of our team and all the hard work it’s taken to scale up so quickly”, the company said in a blog post.

The Mailbox app has also been updated, and can be downloaded from the App Store. Not much has been given in the release notes, and the Mailbox blog also keeps details to a minimum, “we’re releasing an update to Mailbox in the App Store. Among hundreds of fixes and improvements big and small, we’ve added shake to undo—the feature our users asked for most. You can download the version here if you haven’t already updated.”

We got our Mailbox activated a few days back, and we must say that it has one of the neatest set of swipe features and a fairly consistent UI, once you get used to it. If you do want to get that little bit extra over the official Gmail app in your iPhone, we suggest you do get in the queue. No harm in checking out Mailbox, you just might fall in love with it.
