Why is WhatsApp ending support?

WhatsApp regularly updates its app to bring in new features, enhance security, and improve the user experience. However, this means older smartphones running outdated operating systems often can’t keep up. According to a report from HDblog, smartphones running Android KitKat or earlier versions will lose access to WhatsApp starting January 1.

The report adds, “We already told you about the end of iPhone support; now, the list is getting longer with about twenty other models, also quite old, from brands like Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, and Sony.”
