Facebook Messenger App now available for iPad
Facebook’s Messenger app launched for iPad, features voice calling and same-screen viewing.
Facebook has launched a dedicated Messenger application for iPad users. The app has a multi-window feature that shows a list of chats on the left-side of the screen, as well as the current active chat enlarged on the right side. The Facebook Messenger app for iPad is available on the App Store, and is meant for iPad tablets running iOS 7 or higher.
Facebook Messenger for iPad comes with features line stickers, VoIP calling and easy group chat navigation. However some features are missing from the latest addition, like tap-and-hold quick video recordings and the split-screen selfie camera. These features were introduced by Facebook last month and may come to the iPad in a future update.
Techcrunch stated that if users have both Facebook and Messenger apps on their iPad, by tapping on the messages section on the Facebook app will lead them straight to the Messenger app with the desired conversation open.
Facebook Messenger has more than 200 million monthly active users mark, and the addition to the iPad tablets will help it increase its reach further. Facebook is trying hard to make a mark in the instant messaging sector with its $19 Billion acquisition of WhatsApp messaging service in February. Recently the social networking giant launched a Snapchat-like Slingshot messaging app with disappearing messages. The app allows you to share videos and images with recipients only if they share something back. The Slingshot app is available for Android and iOS users in US.
