Facebook borrows Snapchat’s expiring stories feature for Messenger, calls it ‘Messenger Day’
HIGHLIGHTS

The new Messenger update is not available worldwide just yet. Facebook is known to be testing the feature in Poland.

Facebook has borrowed yet another feature from competitor Snapchat. After launching the ‘Stories’ feature on Instagram back in August, the social network has now borrowed the same for its Messenger service. However, the new Messenger update is not available worldwide just yet. Facebook is known to be testing the feature only in Poland, a country where Snapchat enjoys limited popularity.

Called Messenger Day, the new feature will show stories from you and your Facebook friends right on top of the Messenger app, just like Instagram Stories. Stories posted using Messenger Day will expire in 24 hours. Users will also be able to scribble on photos, use filters and stickers, similar to Snapchat and Instagram.

Speaking to TechCrunch, a Facebook Spokesperson said, “We know that people come to Messenger to share everyday moments with friends and family. In Poland we are running a small test of new ways for people to share those updates visually. We have nothing more to announce at this time."
