Facebook adds Cover Feed to its Android app
Now Android users don't need to download Facebook Home to use the popular Cover Feed, which replaces the default lockscreen with photos-posts from News Feed.
Facebook has started rolling out a new update to its Android app, adding the popular Cover Feed feature of Facebook Home. This means Android users can use Home’s lock screen without needing to download and install the launcher.
The Cover Feed features photos and posts from friends on the lock screen of the phone. Users can swipe, comment and like updates, without using the Facebook app or even unlocking the phone. Facebook has rolled out the same interface on the Android app, which includes quick access to messages and camera.
The update does not include the Chat heads and the Home launcher. Users can use the Chat heads through standalone Messenger app. It’s notable the company had already allowed users to use Cover Feed without using the launcher.
The new update is available for select Samsung, LG, and HTC devices running the social network’s regular app – Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Nexus 4, HTC One X, HTC One X , and the HTC One.
Facebook has also rolled out Home and cover feed support to three new Android devices – the HTC One, Nexus 4, and the Samsung Galaxy S 4.
