We shot an entire trip on the OPPO Find X9s: Here’s how it performed

For creators, the challenge isn’t just capturing content anymore. It’s shooting, editing and publishing from a single device while constantly on the move.

That means long days outdoors, changing lighting conditions, unreliable network coverage and often no access to a laptop or power source. The best creator smartphones aren’t simply the ones with impressive specifications. They’re the ones that can handle an entire workflow from capture to edit without slowing you down.

That’s exactly what we set out to test with the OPPO Find X9s.

Instead of a studio shoot or a controlled test environment, we took the phone to Kalpa, a Himalayan village in Kinnaur sitting at roughly 9,000 feet above sea level. Over the course of a week, the Find X9s became our primary camera, editing machine and everyday companion as we documented landscapes, shot portraits, captured videos and worked on content while travelling.

The final challenge awaited us at the end of the trip: capturing Kinner Kailash from a distance using nothing but the phone in our pocket. More importantly, we wanted to answer a bigger question. Can the OPPO Find X9s genuinely replace multiple devices in a creator’s workflow?

After a week of shooting and editing on the road, the answer became surprisingly clear.

Capturing the details of Kalpa

OPPO Find X9s

The beauty of Kalpa offered a perfect opportunity to explore the camera’s prowess, and it did not disappoint us. It features a triple-camera setup at the rear, with the main 50MP sitting at f/1.8 for portraits. The ultra-wide 50MP camera sits at f/2.0 and has an FOV of 120°; meanwhile, the star of the show, the 50MP periscope telephoto, comes in at f/2.6, and it supports OIS too.

Starting with the portraits, they had a lot of charm. Regardless of the lens we used to capture the pictures, they felt sharp. The all-focal-length Hasselblad portrait allowed the colours to be as accurate as possible, while the details on the face – from the white hairs on the beard to the wrinkles around the eyes – were all retained, and it felt as close to natural as possible.

While having a multiple-lens setup is a great showcase of flexibility, consistency across all lenses matters even more. As a creator exploring and travelling the world, you never know when you will need to switch lenses. For creators, the value of AI isn’t creating content. It’s reducing editing time. Have a look at the pictures we captured at multiple focal lengths of this cow; the colours in all the pictures are close to each other.

Inside the monastery, where the lights were dimmer, the Pro Camera mode helped significantly. It allowed us to manually adjust ISO and shutter speed while letting the Hasselblad colour tuning handle the output. The result pulled out shadow detail that was barely visible to the naked eye without the artificial, over-exposed look common to regular night modes.

The ultimate showdown at Kinner Kailash

The ultimate test, though, came at the Chaka Meadows, where we took the Kinner Kailash challenge. This is where the 4K 60fps video shot with Dolby Vision helped us capture what the naked eye cannot see. Utilising both EIS and OIS helped a lot as the phone held steady despite uneven, frozen terrain and strong wind. For a brief period of time, there was also a drizzle of rain that came over, but thanks to the IP68 and IP69 ratings, our shoot wasn’t interrupted.

The normal wide lens captured the view of the valley without blowing out the snow, then came the AI-powered 120x super zoom, which brought the sacred Shivling into clear view from a distance the eyes simply couldn’t see. All in all, it’s safe to say that the Find X9s passed our test with flying colours.

Perfect for on-the-go edits

The best part came later, though, as we didn’t have to plug the phone into a high-end computer to edit all the videos we shot. Every travel creator will agree that the day ends with hours of editing, and this is where the Find X9s ‘built-for-creators’ feel really comes through.

Using the Master Cut app that comes built-in, we were able to fine-tune each frame and export it in full 4K 60fps HDR. The display gave accurate, punchy colour for night-time grading sessions. Behind it, the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s kept 4K timelines smooth even while jumping between multiple apps.

The phone also has very useful AI-powered features built into the Photos app. Of course, features like AI erasers are useful, but they’ve been out for years now. But OPPO levels up the game with even more features built into the device. They remove a large chunk of time that would otherwise have been spent in post-production.

The AI tools inside the Photos app, rather than just being there, earned their place during this trip. A street photo from the Kalpa market had a stranger walking straight through the frame, and the AI eraser pulled them out cleanly in seconds – no need for any third-party app.

A monastery interior shot that came out under-lit because we did not have time to reset Pro Camera mode got rescued with AI Portrait Glow, recovering a frame we would otherwise have deleted. And on a couple of rushed shots where focus or framing was not quite right, AI Recompose and Perfect Shot were the difference between reshooting and moving on.

Battery that lasts a full production day

Even after a full day of shooting that involved heavy tasks like navigation on weak signals, shooting those beautiful time-lapses, and an amazing photowalk, while on-the-go editing went on, the phone still had 34 percent battery left. It is safe to say that the large 7025 mAh battery is enough for a full day of shooting without requiring an external power source like a power bank.

Once you do come back from a tiring day, charging the device is not much of a hassle. The 80W SuperVOOC charging can easily charge the massive battery and keep it ready for the next day in under an hour. For vloggers and travel creators, it’s definitely a blessing in disguise.
