Tuning into Wellness: How Optum Zoom Happy Beats amplified well-being for over 10,000 students
As part of a first-of-its-kind innovative wellness initiative, the Optum Zoom Happy Beats campaign brought music and mindfulness to college campuses across India. Organised by Optum India and Zoom in collaboration with Radio Mirchi, this six-month tour featured a customised truck, live music performances, and a variety of engaging wellness activities at colleges in four major cities.
The highlight of Optum Zoom Happy Beats was a custom-designed truck that transformed into a vibrant performance stage and interactive zone across eight colleges in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Delhi.
Featuring famous bands like Swastik, Kanya, and Aatma, the campaign brought music concerts to the very heart of campuses like RV College of Engineering, International Institute of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Science, BV Raju Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Shri Ram College of Commerce, and Netaji Subhas University of Technology.
The aim of this campaign was to address health and emotional fatigue through music and interactive experiences. At a time when student stress levels are high, the approach stood out because it was well-attuned to the audience. It offered students a moment to breathe, groove, reflect, and reconnect.
The experience extended beyond the stage. We are talking about the Chill Zones, which were spaces designed for interaction and engagement. They housed fun games that used light-hearted mechanics to initiate conversations around stress relief and self-awareness.
Radio Mirchi’s RJ hosts brought the zones to life with live shoutouts, spontaneous interactions, and wellness-themed activities, infusing the atmosphere with warmth, spontaneity, and joy.
“Optum Zoom Happy Beats is an innovative extension of our mission, blending music and wellness to connect with young minds. Aimed at college students, the Happy Beats truck signifies the fact that wellness is a journey. Music is a universal connector, and by integrating live performances, interactive games, and high-energy engagements, we created a space where students could unwind and enjoy an immersive experience of wellness with entertainment,” said Uma Ratnam Krishnan, Managing Director, Optum India.
Faculty members also shared their perspectives on emotional wellness and the role of music in overall wellbeing, signalling strong institutional support to help create a safe, stigma-free space for reflection, laughter, and joy.
With over 10,000 students engaged directly and 20 million+ digital impressions, Happy Beats left a lasting impact on college campuses. It was a movement that brought together rhythm and resilience, performance and purpose, proving that sometimes the best medicine for the mind starts with a beat.
