Apple had first announced Apple Intelligence during its WWDC in June 2024. The features were then spoken about at the iPhone 16 launch event. The following weeks then saw the roll out of the initial few Apple Intelligence features. However, the features were limited to mostly the US. Now with the iOS 18.4 update, that’s expected in April 2025, Apple aims to introduce new features and even introduce it to new regions.
SurveyRight now, Apple Intelligence is not completely available in India. If someone wishes to use it, they are doing so by switching their default language to US or Canadian English. However, with the upcoming iOS 18.4 update, we can expect Apple to add support for Indian English. This update will also benefit new iPhone buyers (iPhone 15 Pro models or iPhone 16 series), as Apple Intelligence will be ready for use out of the box.
Apple confirmed, “In April, a software update will deliver expanded language support, including Indian English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and more.”
Now, let’s take a look at what new Apple Intelligence features are coming with iOS 18.4.
New iPhone features with iOS 18.4
Siri Enhancements
iOS 18.4 will offer new features with Siri. This includes Personal Context wherein the AI assistant will provide specific help by analysing personal data. Further, it will get an On-Screen Awareness feature. With this, Siri will act based on screen content. For example, you can say, “Add this address to their contact card,” and Siri will comply. Lastly, Siri will also be able to handle complex tasks across apps.
New emojis
iOS 18.4 will also bring with itself fresh emojis like a fingerprint, root vegetable, harp, and more.
Improved News Summaries
Lastly, with the iOS 18.4 update, Apple is planning to reintroduce its News Summary feature, reportedly fixing issues with fake headlines for better accuracy and reliability.
