Samsung's refurbished Galaxy Note 7 is said to launch as Galaxy Note FE, wherein FE stands for Fan Edition

Samsung's refurbished Galaxy Note 7 is tipped to launch in South Korea on July 7. According to Korea-based, ETNews, the refurbished handset will launch as Galaxy Note FE, wherein FE stands for Fan Edition. The smartphone was earlier rumoured to be called the Galaxy Note7R and launch at the end of June.

Samsung confirmed its plan to refurbish and sell Galaxy Note 7 smartphones in March, and the handset has received both WiFi and FCC certifications. The report also suggests that Samsung is planning to offer 4.5 lakh units instead of the previously rumoured 3 lakh units. The fact that the company increasing the available stock further highlights the fact that there is a demand for the Galaxy Note 7 despite its issues.

The report also adds that the Samsung Galaxy Note FE will be the third smartphone to come preinstalled with the company's own Bixby virtual assistant. Samsung had announced Bixby alongside the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, and while it is aimed at competing against Google Assistant and Apple's Siri, it didn't not offer the same number of features at launch. The virtual assistant lacked support for voice at launch and may not be included with Galaxy Note FE at the time of launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Note FE will most likely feature same 5.7-inch Quad HD display and use company's own Exynos 8890 processor. The refurbished model is tipped to launch with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, along with support for expandable storage. The handset will feature a 12MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera and a smaller redesigned 3200mAh battery. While initial rumours suggested that the handset will retail at half its original cost, the new report claims that it will retail for 7,00,000 Korean Won approximately Rs. 39,900. The launch of refurbished Galaxy Note 7 will be limited to certain markets and the company had earlier confirmed that it will not launch the device in India.
