HIGHLIGHTS

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will be available for pre-order on March 31 at 12 noon on the company's own website. The company is just not giving up on the flash sale model.

Xiaomi is simplifying the process of buying its smartphones in India with the introduction of an online pre-order option. The online pre-order will allow buyers to get their hands on a Xiaomi smartphone without waiting for the next flash sale. No, Xiaomi is not doing away with its flash sale model yet, but this can be seen as a move to curb the demand-supply issue faced by the company.

The pre-orders for Xiaomi's Redmi Note 4 go live on March 31 at 12 noon on the company's own website Mi.com. Xiaomi says once the pre-order is done and online payment is completed, the handset will be shipped within 5 days. The company will not include cash on delivery option for pre-orders. There is also an option to cancel the order before the smartphone is shipped and the site will allow only one smartphone per pre-order.

"Over the past few years, we have been listening closely to your feedback, pushing ourselves to bring innovation to as many people as possible. Specifically, we want to make sure that you, our most loyal fans, can easily buy your favourite Mi products. Today we are proud to present a brand-new pre-order system on Mi.com," read the company statement on the website.

Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 4 in India on January at a starting price of Rs 9,999 and the handset was recently made available via offline channels as well. The company has already confirmed that it has sold over 1 million Redmi Note 4s since its launch and aims to sell at least 7 million units. Last week, Xiaomi announced its entry-level smartphone Redmi 4A at Rs 5,999. The company claims to have sold 2.5 lakh units during the 4 minute sale held on Amazon India. With demand far exceeding supply, Xiaomi could add Redmi 4A to pre-order sometime soon.

To recall, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is the successor to last year's Redmi Note 3, with a 5.5-inch full HD display and all-metal unibody design. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and comes in three different storage options: 2GB or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, and another one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The handset sports a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front camera. The device will be available in Gold, Grey and Black colour options.
