On Tuesday, the company’s latest and biggest till date global design centre was inaugurated in Bengaluru.
It was inaugurated by Ashwini Vaishnaw.
It is interesting to note that 25% of AMD’s workforce is based out of India.
AMD, a semiconductor giant is making its mark in India. On Tuesday, the company’s latest and biggest till date global design centre – Technostar Research and Development campus was inaugurated in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was inaugurated by the union cabinet minister for railways, telecommunications, electronics, and information technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Mark Papermaster, CTO of AMD, and top AMD executives.
SurveySpeaking of the campus, it is said to be the centre of development for CPUs, GPUs, adaptive SoCs, and FPGAs, both for personal computers and data centres. Additionally, it will house approximately 3,000 engineers in the coming years and the campus is spread across an area of 500,000-square-foot.

It is interesting to note that 25% of AMD’s workforce is based out of India and this centre will additionally help India in becoming a significant contributor to the semiconductor development space. The global design centre will include spaces such as a modern research and development lab, a demo centre for visitors, and huddle spaces.
AMD plans to invest $400 million over the next five years in India and this global design centre is a part of it too. AMD’s five-year plan was first shared during Semicon 2023.
On the occasion, the union minister said, “India’s semiconductor program launched under the leadership of honourable PM Narendra Modi lays strong emphasis on supporting the design and talent ecosystem for semiconductors. AMD setting up its largest design centre in Bengaluru is a testament to the confidence global companies have in India.”
Adding to this AMD’s CTO Mark Papermaster said, “The relentless pursuit of engineering excellence and innovation is the cornerstone of our success. The new design centre will help propel technology and product development across the AMD portfolio, fueling the next generation of high-performance, adaptive, and AI computing solutions for our customers around the world.”
