The American multisport watch brand Garmin has introduced a line up of Pro models for its running series Fenix 7 and Epix 2. Let’s explore the specifications of the pro models and what they have to offer in their new price range.

Key Specifications: Garmin Epix 2 Pro

The Garmin Epix 2 Pro will be featuring three different display sizes which are 1.2”, 1.3” or a 1.4” display with 42mm, 47mm or a 51mm model dimensions respectively. Previously, the Epix 2 only featured the 47mm or 1.3” display size.

The Epix line sports an AMOLED display and with the 47mm Pro models it is claimed that the watch can last up to 16 days in smartwatch mode while 6 days with the Always-On Display mode switched on. The watch can support GPS tracking which will result in the battery life lasting for almost 42 hours and 32 hours if the accurate multi-band mode is enabled.

Key Specifications: Garmin Fenix 7 Pro

The Fenix 7 Pro also features the same specifications and model sizes as the Epix 2 Pro the only difference lies in the display. Where the Epix lineup uses AMOLED, the Fenix uses Memory-In-Pixel (MIP). Fenix displays are claimed to be more powerful especially for Always On Display mode. However, the fidelity for AMOLED is better.

The Fenix 2 Pro allegedly holds 22 days of battery life with 73 hours of GPS tracking and 48 hours if you have multi-band switched on.

Similar Features: Garmin Epix 2 Pro and Fenix 7 Pro

Garmin has now made changes for the lineup to have a few standardised features such as solar cells on the front for all the models. All the models also feature 32GB of storage which is primarily used for offline maps and offline music.

In addition, the multi-band GPS is now operated on all models. Previously, 32GB storage and multi-band was solely reserved for the Sapphire tier. The Sapphire Tier now holds exclusivity to changing front glass and a titanium bezel.

Both the lineups Epix 2 Pro and Fenix 7 Pro, feature flashlights even the 42mm Pro models. The watches flaunt two white LEDs and one red LED which can be used as strobe lights as well. The watches also feature shaded-relief maps, weather overlays, endurance and hill scores with an addition of “Split-Screen Mode”.

The watch will also feature an optical heart rate sensor (Elevate V5). There are also speculations of an ECG hardware which have not been confirmed by the brand as of now as the company cannot speak of it till the certification.
