Xiaomi launches Mi TV 2S offering 48-inch 4K panel in a super slim 9.9mm bezel

Xiaomi has revealed the product it had been teasing lately - the 48" Mi TV 2S featuring 4K resolution and 9.9mm thickness

Xiaomi has unveiled the product it had been teasing of late – and it is the new Xiaomi Mi TV 2S. Unveiled at a special event in China, the new television from Xiaomi is 9.9mm thin – 1mm more than the Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone. It also boasts of 4K resolution display quality, although the exact resolution and aspect ratio of the display have not been revealed yet.

Diagonally, the screen measures 48 inches. Xiaomi is launching two variants of the Mi TV 2S – the standard version that is priced at CNY 2,999 (approx. Rs. 30,679), and the Theatre version, priced at CNY 3,999 (approx. Rs. 40,909). It will be available across outlets in China from July 22 onwards. Xiaomi, however, have not mentioned any plans of selling the TV outside China till now. Xiaomi has struck deals with national content providers as Youku, BesTV and others to provide additional content benefits with the Mi TV 2S.

The Mi TV 2S is powered by an MStar 6A928 chipset, along with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It runs on MIUI TV OS, powered by Android Lollipop v5.0. The TV also features a special power plug, designed by world's largest power chord supplier, Volex. In terms of connectivity, the Mi TV 2S houses HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, along with WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0. Xiaomi have compared its TV with rival TV manufacturers Samsung, Sony and Sharp, claiming the Mi TV 2S to have picture clarity, colour accuracy and sharper contrast in comparison to the others. It has also claimed the Mi TV 2S to have superior audio quality.

Targeted at young TV-buyers, the all-metal back frame of the Xiaomi Mi TV 2S will be available in five different colours – gold, pink, blue, green and silver.
