Xiaomi ‘POCOPHONE’ registered on FCC, could be headed to India with Snapdragon 845: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

A separate report speculates that the Xiaomi POCOPHONE could also be a device codenamed ‘Beryllium’ that is expected to come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC.

Xiaomi could be working on a new series of devices called ‘POCOPHONE’. As per a Slashleak report, the company has registered a new device with the FCC, which sports the model number M1805E10A and is also known as POCOPHONE. The same device was earlier certified by the Taiwanese certification agency, NCC, and the FCC listing suggests that the Chinese manufacturer might be planning to launch the device in the US as well. However, the use of POCOPHONE instead of the usual Mi or Redmi branding leads to believe that the company might be launching a new series. This is also reiterated by another report by XDA Developers, who think that the POCOPHONE might be coming to India under the codename ‘Beryllium’.

XDA Developers discovered the existence of a Xiaomi flagship smartphone code-named ‘Beryllium’ in firmware files, which were built back in March. XDA says that some of the specs could change over time, however, the device is said to be still in development as there reportedly exists an up-to-date MIUI 10 Global Beta (v8.7.6) for it. As per the report, the smartphone could come with a ‘notched’ LCD display featuring an 18:9 display aspect ratio. It is said to feature dual cameras with optical zoom support, NFC, run on Android 8.1 Oreo. It could also be powered by a 4000mAh battery.

As for the claim that ‘Beryllium’ might be POCOPHONE, XDA says that the “E10” in the model name of the device “corresponds to a set of variables that Xiaomi defines in the MIUI Camera app. Not every device shows up on this list of variables, but we’ve found that the variables (like IS_E10) and the last few characters in the model name (“E10A”) typically correlate.” However, as there is no definitive evidence and is all correlative speculation, we suggest that you take this info with a pinch of salt.
