Xiaomi Mi A2 colour variants leaked ahead of July 25 launch in Spain: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

The Xiaomi Mi A2 is expected to launch at an event in Spain, where the company first marked its entry into the European markets last year.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 has now been spotted in several leaks, including a hands-on video, even though a company executive had denied the existence of a device with the ‘Mi A2’ name back in May. Xiaomi is expected to hold a press event in Spain on July 25 and in a fresh report, colour variants of the alleged Xiaomi Mi A2 have now leaked online.

According to a report by MySmartPrice, Xiaomi’s next stock Android powered phone will be available in black, blue and gold colour options. In comparison, the Mi A1 was made available in black, gold, rose gold and red colours.

The Mi A2’s hardware is expected to be the same as the Mi 6X (Read first impressions) launched in China. On the software front, the Mi A2 is expected to come with stock Android 8.1 Oreo, following in the steps of the Mi A1. The new report claims that the device will be available in 4GB RAM+32GB/64GB/128GB storage options and another 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant.

Since the Mi A2 is expected to mimic the hardware of the Mi 6X, it is expected to sport a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone will most likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. Like the Mi 6X, the smartphone could sports a USB Type-C port and be backed by a 3010mAh battery.

In the camera department, the device could have a dual-camera setup with 12MP+20MP sensors stacked vertically at the back. Similar to the Mi 6X, its 12MP Sony IMX486 rear camera is expected to sport a f/1.75 aperture lens with 1.25μm pixels. A 20MP Sony IMX376 camera is expected at the front of the device.

Xiaomi’s plan to introduce the Mi A2 in Spain could be seen as a sign of the company’s growing footprint in Europe. Xiaomi first entered the European market with the launch of the Mi Mix 2 in Madrid last year. The company also opened its first Mi store in Barcelona and with the launch of the Mi A2 in the country, Xiaomi could be looking to further cement its position in the European markets.
