Xiaomi launching Mi4 Android smartphone on July 22
HIGHLIGHTS

The device comes less than a year after the company launched the Mi3, which was also recently brought to India.

The successor to the Xiaomi Mi3, which was launched in India just a few days ago, may already be coming. According to reports, the new device, dubbed Mi4, will be launched as early as July 22, which is just over two weeks from now. Company CEO Lei Jun reportedly shared a teaser image on his Weibo account, which says, “The journey of a piece of steel metal.”

Not much is known about the specifications of the device, but the teaser points towards a metal chassis on the smartphone. In addition, there have been rumours that the smartphone will boast a 5.5-inch full HD display along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor, 2 GB of RAM and a version of MIUI based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Going by Xiaomi’s earlier track record, the device should be priced quite aggressively. Moreover, with Xiaomi now going global, the new flagship should also be launched in other countries, including India.

Further, an image of the front panel of what was suspected to be the Xiaomi Mi4 had been leaked earlier from a manufacturing plant. This image showed a smartphone with very slim bezels, white in colours and the Mi logo on the upper left side. It also had a front facing camera, light sensor and front speaker
