Along with its flagship Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi also revealed HyperOS. HyperOS has been released with plans to replace the company’s current operating system, MIUI, and the Xiaomi 14 series is the first to incorporate it.

The HyperOS is based on Linux and Xiaomi Vela, Xiaomi’s in-house IoT software. When compared to MIUI which measures 13.08GB, HyperOS is just 8.75GB in size, which also makes it the smallest firmware size. Xiaomi guarantees that this new OS is not only much more efficient but also works well across different devices and RAM specifications.

With HyperOS, most changes are made under the hood and the interface is low key similar to MIUI only. Well, as many have welcomed this new OS, some say that Xiaomi has ripped off Apple’s iOS 17 left, right, and centre. Let’s see how HyperOS stands apart and what new things it has to offer.

UI Changes

Let’s talk about the basics first, the controls centre has seen minor changes along with its apps. You also get new lock screen faces and customisation options.

For security, Xiaomi has opened up and welcomes third-party developers to Xiaomi Vela. Encryption, permission management, and other security protocols have been strengthened.

Performance optimisation 

Yes, the performance is improved on this OS. It allows apps to boot faster as well and it retains them for long in background memory. We also get better disk latency and smoother animations with this.

Enhanced AI

AI has become the centre of attention for all tech companies today. With the help of Xiaoai Input Assistant, you can get AI-generated texts. Much like Apple’s OS, HyperOS also allows you to capture text on Photos, convert doodles into paintings, and search images using natural languages.

Improved and Smart Connectivity 

With the HyperOS, the cross-device connectivity issue has been addressed by Xiaomi HyperConnect, and its smart UI is called Hypermind. You can connect to other devices, use the rear camera of your smartphone as a webcam, easily share mobile data, and you can receive notifications such as calls on your other devices like laptops.
